Davy Jones' Locker Diving

We had a personalized and exceptional PADI Open Water certification experience with Davy Jones Locker Scuba Diving School. They took care of everything, including transportation from their office to the training pool, providing drinks on the boat, and ensuring we had all the necessary equipment. Unlike many dive schools that prioritize cramming in as many students as possible, Davy Jones Locker focuses on providing quality instruction and ensuring that each student develops the skills necessary to dive safely and enjoyably. Our instructor, Pierre, was fantastic. He was patient, knowledgeable, and had a great sense of humor. He clearly explained all the concepts and answered every question we had, no matter how trivial. He also made us feel comfortable and reassured throughout the entire process. The dive school is conveniently located near the pier, and the staff was always available, friendly and helpful. They even rented us a scooter at the cheapest price and invited us to a free BBQ. The course materials were well-organized and easy to follow. Cherry on top: their prices are very competitive.

Completed my open water, advanced an nitrox certifications with these guys and had the best time. Federico my instructor was just amazing, couldn't of asked for better! No matter the conditions under the water he always made sure we had a great time and felt safe. Also they have the adorable Nina who loves beach walks 🐾 and free BBQs

Found DJL online & communicated with Julia over WhatsApp on some queries regarding fun dives. Response was really quick & Julia was patient, friendly and informative despite my multiple queries. 🫰🏼 We did a total of 9 fun dives (including night dive) over 3 days with Julia’s awesome team>> Yeray & Fedik (not sure if it is correct spelling🙈) & Alesha & the boatman who assisted all our returns to the boat. 💯🔆 Special shout out and appreciation of thanks to the whole DJL team for this wonderful experience! 10/10 would recommend! I understand DJL offers accoms as well though it was under renovation during our period of stay. Location is great, few mins walk from Mae haed pier and 7-11 & massage shops.

I have been diving with DJL in October 2023 and I can only write positive things about this dive center and the amazing team of people. There are many dive centers in Koh Tao and it is not easy to choose the right one, especially when you do it at home, via internet. The email/ WhatsApp communication is quick and very informative. You can reserve the fun dives and dive courses very easy in their website. You can choose almost everything from PADI and they also do tech diving courses. I did my PADI Rescue Diver and some specialities which contributed to my Master Scuba Diver certification. Thank you very much to the whole team: Julia, Tim, my instructor Lewis, Beth, Rob, Mark and my rescue actors/ victims Harrison and Marc. It was a pleasure to dive with you and learn from you. I wish I have 4 weeks of vacation to be able to do the Divemaster with you. Someday maybe. If anyone wants to start or continue diving- DJL is the best place. If you want to see turtles, octopus, hermit crabs, jellyfish, wrecks - sign up with DJL -it will be a lot of fun and you will feel safe at the same time. Cheers to DJL- you guys rock! Please make the Aware against debris dives often. It was cool to be part of this dive also.

We had a great time doing our Open Water course with DJL. Their prices include accommodation as well. We opted to stay in a private room, which is above cafe de sol and is an amazing stay in itself - very comfortable and large space for you to stay and unwind in. It is quiet in there as well so you can focus on your course when you need to. Our mentor Federico is amazing! Couldn't of asked for a better instructor. He ensured that we were calm and relaxed at all times, ensuring we were okay at all different times and points of the dives as well. First off is the training in the pool. Although the pool is based off site, they give you a lift there with everyone and free tea/coffee. The pool is shared by a couple of companies which is a shame; however, we had no problems within our group and it didn't seem to be any problem for any other groups either. The pool is quite large, especially for a training area. Federico then took us through all the skills that we would need if certain situations arise when diving in the ocean and we practised these a couple of times until we could showcase we could perform these skills. The first afternoon/morning will take close to 4 hours - make sure you take a towel and dry clothes to change into at the end to warm yourself up! The second day and afternoon we went out to sairee beach and junkyard. The first dive, we performed half of the skills that we practiced in the pool in the ocean. Yes, this was a little uncomfortable, especially the fact you are doing it 7-8 metres under water for the first time. However, Federico was there for any problems or anxiousness if there was any. The second part of the afternoon, we moved spot to junkyard and performed some more tasks. Again, a little uncomfortable because of it being saltwater and filling your mask up to then clear it; however, Federico would do this with you as well. Not only is this part task driven but you will also get to swim around the underwater gym and see your first bit of marine life. The third and final day, unfortunately you do have to wake up early, we went to Tao Tong and Freedom Beach. Again, due to it being a course, more tasks were completed on the third dive; however, more swim time on this one, which was great. And the final dive in Freedom Beach, where you have the chance to see a turtle, ended up being a fun dive and putting our skills to the test if needed! All in all, I would 100% recommend this company. They are a lovely bunch of people who even put on a Christmas dinner and secret Santa for us on Christmas Day for free! Some of the equipment is a little worn, but I believe they are looking to change this equipment out.

Federico was our diving instructor and was one of the best instructors I’ve had in any watersport (although this is my first diving course). Very knowledgable, calm and accommodating. He made the whole experience well worth while and a lot of fun, also an added bonus was that our group just consisted of 2 people. There are over 80 diving schools on the island to choose from, but we were happy with our choice. Some schools might have a bit newer equipment, but the instructor really made the experience for us. Also great that they offer free accommodation during the dive course. I stayed in the private room with a friend and it did the job well👍🏼 especially good that the AC worked well.

Knowledgeable, well I formed, clean equipment and perhaps the greatest team of people I have ever had the pleasure of being apart of. I started off doing my PADI open water course which consisted of 5 dives. One skill based in the pool, then 4 more as apart of training in the sea. I enjoyed myself so much, I then continued to do my advanced course and 2 more free dives. This kind of experience is one you CANNOT miss!! I am forever grateful to have got into such a great hobby with such a supportive and inclusive group of people! I was trained by Luis, who encouraged safety first, very closely followed by fun and experience. He is the man, and wish nothing but the best for him in life! He had a heart of gold and such a genuine person to get along with, this made the diving significantly more enjoyable and is likely the reason I fell in love with diving to the extend that I have. We saw spotted rays, barracuda, a turtle, crabs and some stunning parrot fish. Followed up with all the knowledge you could keep from the rest of the dive team. I can't wait to go back!
